Tale of the Tape | | Wide Receiver | | Senior | Class | Senior | 5'11/175 | Height/Weight | 6'1/185 | Named the special teams player of the week by the Charlotte Weekly for week 3 for a 90 yard kickoff return for a TD he had against South Mecklenburg. Incredible kikoff & put returner. Averaging an impressive 18.3 yards per catch. | Notable Info | Boler currently has 29 catches for 342 yards in four games. In 2007, only Butler's Jarrett Boykin had better numbers as a receiver than Blair. Blair had close to 1000 yards receiving last year. | | NFL WR's Style Most Similar to | | Arizona WR Larry Fitzgerald |
| "He is a team leader and always wants the ball in the clutch situations, and that's something I love about him as an offensive coordinator. We are being more creative about how we get him the ball because he is a threat to go the distance anytime the ball is in his hands.” Waddell Offensive Coordinator- Matt Morrow | What Others Are Saying | "I’ve been a head coach for 25 years and he’s (Blair Boler) the best pure receiver I’ve ever had, and I have two in the NFL right now, Jamar Adams with the Seattle Seahawks, and Kenneth Moore with the Detroit Lions, who played at Wake Forest.” Olympic Head Coach- Barry Shuford |
Final Analysis
Two great talents. I think Blair is a lot more popular to the city than Derryck because Blair has had feature stories written about him in the Charlotte Observer & of course CharlotteHighSchoolFootball.com. But trust me, Derryck is a player. His former coach (Andre Carr) told me last year that he thought Derryck was the best WR in all of Charlotte. He said the problem was that no one knew about him. Guess what? They do now. Both of these guys have the talent to be playing on Saturdays next year.
