CHSF.com- “Coach, by finishing 2-9 last year, that wasn't the type of season that you and this program are used to. Talk about 2008 team and how they appear to be shaping up.”

Coach Ruark- “Last year we were young. We have 16 returning starter and 36 seniors. We look for a lot of growth. We had some really close games that we lost and we didn't get the record that we wanted, but we learned a lot. I think this year, all of the players have hit the field and have been very focused. I'm really excited about the chemistry.”

CHSF.com- “Many people know about LB Gene Robinson, but a lot of people don't know about DE Brian Johnson even though they should. He seems poised to have a monster year. What type of player is Brian Johnson?”

Coach Ruark- "Brian Johnson is a player whose motor never quits. He comes off the edge and he does a great job. He has learned to play down the line. I'm real excited for his opportunities to play at the next level; those chances look really good. He is relentless when it comes to pass rushing."

CHSF.com- "Sounds like with Brian, Gene, and Tyree Simpson, you guys are going to be loaded defensively. Would you agree?"

Coach Ruark- "We have an opportunity to have a real good defense if we to continue to work hard and we have a few pieces to fit into the puzzle with returning starters Jetarius Gill, Jeremy Dry, and Alex Lane in the secondary with Tyree and Charlie Shoemaker. When we fill the little holes, we should be good."

CHSF.com- "Despite being hurt much of last season, RB Eric Williams was still only a few yards away from getting 1000 yards. That's got to be a good feeling to know that he is healthy this year."

Coach Ruark- "It is a good feeling. He's healthy now. He had a great spring and summer. We're looking for great things out of Eric."

CHSF.com- “What are you expecting from Andy Banks this season?"

Coach Ruark- "Andy might be called on to do some things on the defensive side as well as offensively this season."

CHSF.com- “What players outside of Myers Park do you enjoy watching play?"

Coach Ruark- "I like watching them all. The Windle kid (TE Tucker Windle) over at Catholic is one of the best players in Charlotte. I'm going to miss DeVonte Holloman over at Independence. I think that there are some tremendous athletes over at Olympic."

CHSF.com- “Who on your team can potentially have a big year that we haven't talked about?”

Coach Ruark- "I think that Robert Waterhouse and Banks Jenkins, my two receivers, are going to have good seasons this year. Banks is just a junior, but he's 6'5 and makes some good catches. He'll be a force for us. Waterhouse will do a little bit of running the ball and receiving. I think he's going to have a big season as well."
