Independence WR Lawrence Martin wants one more state title in his last season as a Patriot

CHSF.com- “With another great season, many analysts will consider you as one of the best receivers in CMS history. How does that make you feel?”

Lawrence- “I think that would be a great accomplishment. I try to keep working hard to get better and better as the season goes on. I, most importantly, learn from my mistakes.”

CHSF.com- “How do you see yourself as a leader of this team and a leader of this offense?”

Lawrence- “I try to lead by example. I also try to make sure everyone stays levelheaded to keep penalties to a minimum.”

CHSF.com- “How do you prepare for each game?”

Lawrence- “Tuesday and Wednesday are tough practices. We go at it hard those two days. We take it one game at a time and fix the little things.”

CHSF.com- “You guys beat East Meck and Butler in the last two games of the season. Who do you think deserves notoriety?”

Lawrence- “Honestly, we don’t think anyone can beat us so we don’t worry about the strengths of one player.”

CHSF.com- “Tell me how you feel playing for such a dominate program?”

Lawrence- “I love working under Coach Knotts. I respect him to the highest degree. He’s tough, but he knows what he is doing out on the field.”

CHSF.com- “What are some of the colleges showing interest in you and what type of program do you want to play for?”

Lawrence- “There are a couple, but I don’t know where I want to go at this point. I’m waiting for more offers and will not make a decision until signing day. I just want to be a part of a team.”

CHSF.com- “How do you balance work on the field and off the field?”

Lawrence- “We have tutoring during the course of the week. Coach Knotts constantly reminds us that school comes first. If your school work is not done, you don’t play.”

CHSF.com- “Who are your role models and who do you get inspiration from?”

Lawrence- “I look up to my dad because he is a hard worker. He is like Coach Knotts in that he wants what’s best for me.”

CHSF.com- “What advice can you give to the future leaders of this team?”

Lawrence- “Give your best and keep everyone together.”

CHSF.com- “What would be your most memorable moment on the field?”

Lawrence- “Unfortunately, losing state last year. It really hurt, but it has motivated us to win the title this year.”
